April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month

Materials are now available for your use in the community for Oral Cancer Awareness Month. New materials include a TV PSA by Michael Douglas and a fact sheet from CDC on the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Oropharyngeal Cancer.

Maryland Dent-Care Loan Assistance Repayment Program - Applications now available!

The 2015 application period is now open. . All materials are due no later than August 29, 2014. 

Maryland Provides 100,000 Fluoride Varnish Applications to Children Across the State

Maryland officials announced today that it reached a significant milestone- 100,000 fluoride varnish applications have been applied by medical providers through Maryland's Mouths Matter fluoride varnish program, an initiative launched in 2009 designed to prevent tooth decay in high-risk children throughout the state. 

Funding Opportunities

The Office of Oral Health is pleased to announce the availability of the "one year oral health grant applications." There are two applications packages- one for Oral Disease and Injury Prevention and one for Dental Sealants. These grant opportunities are available ONLY to Maryland local health departments.

The Oral Health Survey of Maryland School Children, 2011-2012 is a statewide follow-up survey on the oral health status of school children in 2005. Keep Kids Smiling: Promoting Oral Health Through the Medicaid Benefit for Children and Adolescents

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released a strategy guide intended to provide examples of successful approaches to improving oral health access and utilization for children enrolled in Medicaid. Maryland is one of the state's highlighted in this guide.
