MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH BUREAU
The Maternal and Child Health Bureau's mission is to protect, promote and improve the health and well-being of all women, newborns, children and adolescents in Maryland. Our programs and activities strive to strengthen and support the maternal and child health infrastructure and to assure the availability and accessibility of preventive and primary care services for women, children and adolescents. Programs within the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) are integrated to assure a holistic and coordinated life span approach to the enhancing the health of Marylanders. MCHB staff include a highly skilled and diverse team of public health professionals representing a variety of disciplines. 

MCHB is composed of four offices.  These offices include the Office of Family Planning and Home Visiting (OFPHV), the Office of Surveillance and Quality Initiatives (OSQI), Women Infants and Children (WIC) and the Office of Genetics and People with Special Health Care Needs (OGPSHCN). 

The Maternal and Child Health Bureau also collaborates and coordinates activities with other State agencies on health issues that affect women and children. These issues include immunizations, injury prevention, mental health care, Medical Assistance, oral health care, substance abuse, and smoking cessation.
