For Pharmacists

Under the Maryland Statute §12–508

  1. A pharmacist may administer influenza vaccines to persons at least 9 years old.
  2. A pharmacist may administer any vaccines listed in the CDC's recommended Immunization Schedule to persons ages 11 to 17 with a prescription.
  3. Prescriptions are not required to administer vaccines to adults, persons 18 years and older.
  4. Pharmacist may administer adult vaccines listed by the CDC, including vaccines recommended for travel.
  5. Pharmacists must report all administered vaccines to Immunet.

Electronic reporting to the Maryland Immunization Information System (ImmuNet) is preferred, however, direct manual entry is available to pharmacies that are unable to report electronically.

The acceptable formats for electronic reporting are standard HL7 (v2.5.1 or other versions) and flat file. Methods of data transmission can be via SOAP Webservices or SFTP.

Pharmacies not already reporting can contact the ImmuNet Help Desk to set up connectivity and start submitting data. Pharmacies with multiple locations using the same system can submit data together in a single feed.

Please direct questions to the ImmuNet Help Desk at 410-935-9295 or dhmh.mdimmunet@maryland.gov
